Getting to know Los Angeles in your own way
Just arrived?
You can hop on the airport’s free Wi-Fi as soon as you arrive. It’s handy for booking a ride, pulling up a map, or letting your hotel know you’re on your way. When it’s time to head into the city, you’ve got options rental cars, taxis, ride-shares, and shuttle buses are all waiting right outside the terminal. Need some cash or have currency to exchange? The airport’s got you covered with banking services. One more thing: keep your ID close. Whether you’re renting a car or using certain services, you’ll probably need it.
Where should you start in Los Angeles?
There’s beach life, movie history, awesome food, and, of course, that endless California sunshine.
- Honestly, you can’t go wrong with Hollywood first. Walk the Hollywood Walk of Fame, check out the handprints at TCL Chinese Theatre, and try to spot the Hollywood sign peeking out above the hills. It’s classic LA touristy, but hey, that’s part of the fun.
- Next, head over to Santa Monica Pier. Ocean breeze, rides, street performers, and that sunset over the water it’s got that laid-back California vibe everyone talks about. Take your time, grab an ice cream, walk the beach.
- Then, cruise through Beverly Hills. Palm trees everywhere, fancy shops on Rodeo Drive, and a chance to see how the other half lives. Even if you’re just window shopping, it’s worth the trip.
- Griffith Observatory has some of the best views in the whole city. You can see downtown, the mountains, the Hollywood sign all in one sweep. Go in the evening if you can. The city lights are something else.
- And don’t skip Downtown LA. The Broad museum’s a must if you like art, Grand Central Market’s packed with great food, or just wander around and soak up the energy. There’s a creative buzz downtown that feels totally different from the rest of the city.
